ROXAS City – The city government is sustaining its monthly rice subsidy to residents this year.
“Indi namon gusto nga subong nga krisis problemahon pa sang tagsa ka pamilya ang bugas nga tilig-angon,” said Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.
The “krisis” is the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic which is also adversely affecting livelihood and finances due to restrictions in people’s movements so as not to further spread the disease.
Recently, the city government released rice subsidy to 1,664 families in Barangay Banica. Each family received 25 kilos or half a sack of rice.
“Nalipay gid ako. May bugas naman nga padala si mayor. Pila naman ka semana ini nga kolumunsuhon. Indi na kami mag problema pangdalawat,” said a senior citizen and resident of Barangay Banica.
Last year, the City Social Welfare and Development Office was able to distribute rice to more than 32,000 families.
The city government also gave rice subsidy to volunteer firefighters.
On the other hand, the Department of Agriculture through the City Agriculture Office and City Veterinary Office distributed livestock to identified city beneficiaries.
“Aton ginasiguro nga indi lang pagkaon kundi pangabuy-anan ang mahatag sang gobierno sa pumoluyo,” said Dadivas./PN
