ILOILO City – The City Health Office (CHO) noted an increase in people’s access to safe and potable water and sanitary toilets.
In a recent forum at Central Philippine University, Ian John Pamplona, CHO sanitary inspector, said there was a noticeable improvement in the city residents’ access to sanitary toilets.
“In 2015, a total of 65,812 households were recorded to have sanitary toilets equivalent to 86 percent of households in the city,” he said.
The 2015 figure was higher by four percent than the 62,198 households with sanitary toilets recorded in 2014, and six percent higher than the 60,248 households recorded in 2013.
The city government targets 88 percent of the total households in Iloilo City to have access to sanitary toilets.
CHO’s comparative report also indicated that 63,638 households in Iloilo City have access to safe water.
“This is a noticeable improvement compared to the 62,693 households recorded in 2014 and 59,302 households in 2012,” said Pamplona.
He cited a factor – people’s access to Metro Iloilo Water District pipelines. (PIA-Iloilo/PN)
