ILOILO City – Sixty-five more eligible consumers here received their bill deposit refunds from MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power).
No less than Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) chairperson Monalisa C. Dimalanta led the distribution yesterday.
“Imagine if (all) citizens and consumers do their part as they should. They pay their taxes on time, they pay their bills on time,” said Dimalanta.
The bill deposit refund distribution of MORE Power, Dimalanta said, is the result of having a power utility and consumers that do their respective obligations; they yield mutual rewards, she stressed.
Jonathan Zarraga was one of yesterday’s responsible consumers who received a refund. He happily but humbly said he did not expect it although he had been dutifully paying his monthly electric bills.
He was inspired to pay on time because he was more than satisfied with MORE Power’s service, he said.
Dimalanta emphasized the importance of having an efficient and service-oriented power utility because this motivates consumers to take responsibility, too.
“Imagine if distribution utilities work as they should. There are less outages or in fact no outages. When you call because you have a concern, they’re there at your doorstep immediately. And if you ask for a refund, they give you back your deposit,” she said.
Indeed, another bill deposit refund recipient, Rolando Zamora, expressed his gratitude to MORE
Power.
“Daku mabulig sini (bill deposit refund) sa akon mga apo para makaeskewela,” said Zamora.
Another pleased consumer and refund recipient, Lean Makahilo, said her household appreciates MORE Power’s quick response whenever they have electricity-related concerns.
“Kun may problema, isa lang katawag, ara na sila sa imo pertahan,” said Makahilo.
ERC’s Dimalanta was visibly pleased.
“Imagine if utilities work as they should. Imagine if consumers do their part as they should. (But) today we don’t need to imagine. Today you hold it in your hands (the refund), ‘di ba? You don’t need to imagine. This is real. Totoo po today,” said Dimalanta.
MORE Power president and chief executive officer Roel Z. Castro commended the third batch of the bill deposit refund beneficiaries. He is hopeful they will serve as an inspiration to others to become responsible consumers, too.
Castro also said it is the responsible consumers that inspire MORE Power do deliver its best service.
“Amon nga objective when we took over was to give each and every consumer equitable service,” he stressed./PN
