More El Niño-hit farmers in Capiz get cash aid

CAPIZ – More farmers from this province affected by the El Niño phenomenon have availed themselves of the financial assistance under the Presidential Assistance to Farmers, Fisherfolk and Family (PAFFF) program.

Gov. Fredenil H. Castro on Tuesday, August 20, led the distribution of P10,000 in cash to each of the 1,174 beneficiaries from the municipalities of President Roxas, Panitan, Mambusao, Panay, and Maayon.

In his message, Gov. Castro thanked President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for allocating P50 million for the province’s farmers and fisherfolk as part of his promise to provide relief to all Filipinos greatly affected by the extreme drought caused by El Niño.

The governor also urged the beneficiaries to wisely use the financial assistance as a step towards recovery.

Also present during the distribution of financial assistance were Vice Gov. James “Mitang” Magbanua, Provincial Board member Thea Faith Reyes, Acting Provincial Agriculturist Raoul Perez, former provincial agriculturist and consultant of the Agriculture Provincial Office Sylvia dela Cryz, personnel of the Provincial Treasurer’s Office headed by Diosdado Llamas, and Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Strengthening the Social Welfare and Development team leader Mylene de Monteverde./PN
