ILOILO City – To further improve its operation, MORE Electric and Power Corporation, the sole power distributor here, has launched its Work Order and Asset Management System (WOAMS) developed in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

WOAMS is a digital system that will streamline MORE Power’s processes, especially in expediting its response to power interruptions and connection concerns of electrical consumers.

It will also enable MORE Power to better manage and maintain information on its projects, resources, and other operational aspects.

The launching yesterday at Richmonde Hotel in Mandurriao district was led by MORE Power president and chief executive officer Roel Z. Castro and the Program Management Specialist of USAID Regional Energy Climate Change, Lyan Villacorta.

“WOAMS’ development comes in two phases: a web-based application, which we are launching now, and a mobile application designed to work even in scenarios of poor internet connectivity,” said Villacorta.

He assured stakeholders that USAID will continue to work with MORE Power “and others around the country to enhance energy systems through sustained innovations to better serve the Filipino people.”

MORE Power’s Castro said, “WOAMS is very important for us. When we started three years ago, our systems were heavily burdened. I’m happy that after three years, the consumers are feeling the improvements in our service.”

Among many improvements, MORE Power succeeded in reducing not only the electricity rate but also the system’s loss from a high of 30 percent to just about 5.5 percent.

With WOAMS, MORE Power aims to, among other things, improve its response time to customers’ concerns within 15 minutes or even less.

“All of these improvements in the last three years are because we want to give our consumers what is due them,” said Castro.

He stressed the importance of continually improving MORE Power’s infrastructure to meet the high expectations of consumers.

Gracing the WOAMS launching were, among others, Iloilo Provincial Administrator Dr. Raul Banias, Iloilo Provincial Board member Rolando Distura, representatives from the city government and stakeholders.

Executive Assistant Jay Treñas of the Iloilo City Mayor’s Office read Mayor Jerry Treñas’ message for the occasion.

“I congratulate MORE Power for partnering with USAID in this laudable endeavor that will ultimately benefit the Ilonggos,” said Treñas.

The WOAMS, he added, would make MORE Power’s operation more streamlined and reliable.

Treñas also cited USAID for partnering with MORE Power to develop WOAMS.

“On behalf of the people of Iloilo City, my heartfelt appreciation also goes to USAID for always extending a helping hand for the advancement of our community,” he stressed./PN
