More measures vs pandemic in San Lorenzo

SAN LORENZO, Guimaras – “There is a need to impose appropriate measures to further thwart and arrest the spread of the virus.”

Mayor Ninfa Gajo stressed this in Executive Order No. 37 released recently, pointing out the surge in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections in Guimaras.

What are these additional measures?

* The operating hours for business establishments, except for hospitals and funeral parlors, shall not be earlier than 5 a.m. and not later than 4 p.m.

* All tourism accommodations and establishments within the Municipality of San Lorenzo are prohibited to operate until further notice.

* Public utility vehicles shall operate not earlier than 5 a.m. and not later than 6 p.m.

* Consumption of liquor drinks are prohibited in all public places.

* Ambulant vendors from other municipalities are prohibited to enter the Municipality of San Lorenzo except for deliveries of essentials goods and commodities.

* A no dine-in policy shall be implemented to all food establishments.

* Holding of wake shall be limited to immediate family members only. Further, no gambling is allowed in the duration of the wake.

* Mass gathering is strictly prohibited.

Gajo tasked the municipal police, barangay officials and tanods, barangay health workers and all other authorized persons to “strictly implement” her executive order.

As of May 29, San Lorenzo had four active COVID-19 cases.

The four other towns of Guimaras had  active cases, too.  These were (as of May 29) Jordan (31), Buenavista (23), Sibunag (10), and Nueva Valencia (six)./PN
