ILOILO City – To ensure the safety of its workforce and enhance their capabilities, MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) is providing intensive training to its team of linemen in the challenging field of live works.

Live work refers to the process of performing line repairs without cutting off the power supply, a highly dangerous task that requires expertise and precision.

Throughout the month of June, the linemen are participating in a comprehensive program that combines classroom lectures with practical fieldwork. The training aims to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively carry out their duties and responsibilities in the field.

Rodelio Dapatnapu Jr., a Metering Services Lineman and one of the veterans at MORE Power, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to receive training in live works.

“This training helps us increase our knowledge, especially in serving consumers wherein we can perform tasks without causing a brownout. It allows us to further enhance our knowledge and obtain the appropriate skills to perfect our work,” he stressed.

The linemen underwent sessions on safety protocols and standard operating procedures related to various line work, including live works. Following the theoretical training, they engaged in hands-on field exercises that simulated real-life scenarios they might encounter in their day-to-day operations.

The training focused on instilling a strong awareness of the hazards associated with live works, as even a small mistake in this high-risk environment can have severe consequences.

Engr. John Paul Balsomo, Chief Operations Specialist of the Networks Operations Department at MORE Power, highlighted the benefits of the training.

“Basically, this live works training greatly helps not only our supervisors but also the linemen in performing their tasks efficiently when we are in the field,” he said.

Balsomo also pointed out the importance of ensuring efficient task performance in the field while adhering to proper procedures and safety measures.

The comprehensive training program spanned five days, during which the linemen were equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in live works.

Each year, MORE Power allocates resources to train its linemen, recognizing the importance of their continuous development and preparedness for the demands of their daily operations.

Engr. Balsomo further emphasized the significance of this training in enhancing their response capabilities. When urgent issues arise, the company can dispatch a well-prepared response team capable of performing live works in the field, ensuring timely and efficient resolution of electrical problems.

With their ongoing commitment to employee training and safety, MORE Power aims to maintain a high level of service and achieve exceptional results in their operations. Earlier this month, despite undertaking numerous repairs and upgrades within their franchise area, MORE Power achieved an impressive milestone of one million safe man-hours, underscoring their dedication to maintaining a secure working environment./PN
