More PRO-6 cops axed

Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, Police Regional Office 6 spokesperson, says policemen will ensure that public health protocols during the pre- and post-observation of “Undas” are strictly followed.
These police officers were removed from Western Visayas and reassigned to other regions right after President Rodrigo Duterte named them in an Aug. 7, 2016 speech about the state of illegal drugs in Iloilo, according to Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, spokesperson of the PRO-6.

ILOILO City – Five more police officers in the “Duterte list” were dismissed by the National Police Commission (Napolcom) from the service.

They were Police Lieutenant Colonel Noel Lamsis, former Intelligence chief of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO); Police Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Gepana, former chief of the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) Regional Intelligence Office; Police Lieutenant Colonel Richard Gomboc of the PRO-6; Police Major Kenneth Militar, former chief of the Molo police station; and Police Major Vicente Vicente of the PRO-6.

Only Police Major Rio Maymay – then the police chief of Iloilo City’s Police Station 1 and also named by Duterte – remained under the PRO-6, said Malong.

Napolcom found Maymay guilty of incompetence and grave neglect of duty. He received his dismissal order on March 30, and immediately surrendered his service firearm, police badge and identification card to the Philippine National Police.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ipil Dueñas – then the chief intelligence officer of the ICPO reassigned to Camp Crame – was also sacked.

“They can still appeal, but they have to serve their dismissal. All their benefits and salary will be stopped,” Malong added.

Napolcom-6 director Atty. Joseph Celis said these five police officials failed to actively campaign against the illegal drug problem in their areas of responsibility.

The other cops under the PRO-6 mentioned in Duterte’s speech five years ago were:

* Police Colonel Gil Lebin (retired), former director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO)

* Police Colonel Ricardo Dela Paz, former director of the Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO)

* Police Colonel Marieto Valerio and Colonel Ruperto Floro (both retired), former ICPO directors

* Police Brigadier General Bernardo Diaz, former PRO-6 director

* Police Colonel Kashmir Disomangcop, former ICPO director

* Police Lieutenant Colonel Roderick Condag, former IPPO Mobile Force chief

*Lieutenant Elvis Donasco (retired) and Police Lieutenant Christopher De Jose both of ICPO, and

* Police Lieutenant Nilo Duarte (retired) also of ICPO./PN
