ILOILO City – More shabu had been confiscated in Bacolod City than here, an inventory conducted by the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) crime laboratory showed.
The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has so far collected over three kilos of shabu in two years. The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), on the other hand, seized only half a kilo in four years of drug operations.
The inventory was conducted on Sept. 23.
Aside from shabu, the BCPO also seized 233 grams of dried marijuana leaves.
The BCPO conducted a total of 474 antidrug operations since 2018.
From January to September this year, the BCPO seized over one kilo of shabu in 178 operations.
Last year, it recovered over two kilos of shabu in 296 police operations.
“We were also able to identify drug group members,” said Police Colonel Henry Biñas, BCPO director.
Meanwhile, since July 2016 the ICPO seized 520.24 grams of shabu and 81.890 grams of marijuana in 616 antidrug operations.
The biggest seizure of the ICPO was in 2017 – 192 grams of shabu.
According to Police Lieutenant Ace Baldevieso, forensic chemist of the PRO-6 Crime Laboratory, more police offices would be inventoried.
PRO-6 director Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan ordered the inventory to dispel suspicions that seized illegal drugs may have been recycled.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority (PDEA) director General Aaron Aquino recently claimed unscrupulous police personnel were recycling illegal drugs.
“Several sources have confirmed that unscrupulous anti-narcotics agents use the seized illegal drugs to either sell them or use them as planted evidence in bogus operations,” said Aquino./PN
