ROXAS City – Over 200 health personnel have been assigned in 17 local governments across Capiz province this year.
The Department of Health’s Human Resource for Health detailed them in rural health units (RHUs) to boost local personnel.
Of the 226 deployed health personnel, 94 were under the Nurse Deployment Program.
“All the RHUs and the City Health Office here have been assigned nurses,” said Joeffry Espiritu, information officer for DOH-Capiz.
Aside from nurses, there were also doctors, midwives, dentists, pharmacists, and nutritionists, and public health aides.
According to Espiritu, the deployment actually started in February yet.
These health personnel were supposed to serve under a contract good for only six months but some of them have renewed their contracts, he said.
All those who have renewed their contracts will serve until Dec. 31, said Espiritu.
Among the health personnel were 47 midwives under the Rural Health Midwives Placement Program and 19 public health associates.
Eighteen of them were Universal Health Care implementers, 17 were family health associates while 11 were under the Rural Health Midwives Placement Program – Return Service.
Nine deployed medical technologists were under the Medical Technologist Deployment Program, while four personnel were under the Physician Augmentation Deployment Program.
Three personnel were under each of the Dentist Deployment Program and the Pharmacist Deployment Program, and one under the Nutritionist Deployment Program, Espiritu said.
Some of the health personnel were assigned at the Provincial Health Office to assist in data and report consolidation and in day-to-day operations. (With a report from Philippine Information Agency/PN)
