GUIMARAS – Over 500 individuals from the municipalities of San Lorenzo and Buenavista are beneficiaries of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
There are 268 beneficiaries from Buenavista and 266 from San Lorenzo.
Orientations and assessments were held by DSWD Region 6 personnel together with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) on Sept. 5 and 6 for Buenavista and San Lorenzo recipients, respectively.
Gov. Joaquin Carlos Rahman A. Nava graced both orientations.
San Lorenzo mayor Ninfa Gajo, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office chief Shirley Gabutin, and Nava’s executive assistant Lino Galea were also in attendance.
The SLP is a capability-building program for poor, vulnerable and marginalized households and communities to help improve their socioeconomic conditions through accessing and acquiring necessary assets to engage in and maintain thriving livelihoods, ad facilitating interventions through two tracks.
Microenterprise Development (MD) focuses on the establishment of micro-enterprises through the provision of one-time financial capital, enhancement of skills, and building/re-building and developing physical and natural assets.
On the other hand, the Employment Facilitation Program provides one-time assistance to qualified members of eligible households who prefer employment by providing employment assistance funds and skills training funds./PN
