MOROCCO – State of predominantly Muslim has welcomed Pope Francis on his latest trip and met Muslim leaders and migrants for the country’s small Roman Catholic community. The Moroccan capital Rabat became the place where the Pope celebrated Mass flooded by worshippers in the cathedral. Speaking in Rabat’s cathedral, the pontiff warned Catholics against trying to convert people to their own belief, saying this “always leads to an impasse”.
“Please, no proselytising,” he told the audience.
The Catholic humanitarian organisation Caritas joined the Pope on Saturday who stated, “The issue of migration will never be resolved by raising barriers”.
On the same day, the Pope was welcomed to Morocco by King Mohammed VI. (BBC/PN)
