BACOLOD City – A motor banca capsized off the coast of Barangay Molocaboc in Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 29. Fifteen people were rescued.
According to the Sagay City police, motor banca Baby Evony Line captained by Giovanie Fernandez left the city’s Barangay Vito at around 1 p.m. The boat had 15 passengers and crew aboard.
Upon reaching the Molocaboc Tower around 600 meters away from Barangay Molocaboc Proper, the motor banca encountered big waves. It capsized.
Several residents who saw what was happening immediately helped the passengers and crew to safety.
No one was hurt in the incident.
The Philippine Coast Guard is now investigating the incident. Fernandez did not have a permit to sail./PN
