ILOILO City – A man died after his motorcycle crashed into a parked container truck around 3 a.m. on Sunday, July 14, in Barangay Loboc, Lapuz district.
Jessmark Gabral, a resident of the district’s Barangay Mansaya, was on his way home from Barangay Baldoza, La Paz district when the accident happened.
According to traffic investigator Corporal Jun Oliver Diaz, the victim succumbed to severe head injuries.
Meanwhile, the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) in Lapuz will convene on Thursday, July 18, to address the issue of on-road parking in the district.
ABC president Arnel Asturias said they invited city councilors Sedfrey Cabaluna and Romel Duron, Traffic Enforcement Unit head Lieutenant Colonel Ethan Estaya, and Iloilo City Traffic Management Unit chief Uldarico Garbanzos, among others, to attend the meeting.
On-road parking of trucks and trailers in their areas had already been raised multiple times to the ABC by the village chiefs of barangays Loboc and Mansaya.
Loboc barangay captain Pancho Vijuan added that the aforementioned container truck owned by Kai-Zen Logistics has been parked in the area since May 22 this year./PN
