ILOILO – A man driving a motorcycle slammed against a parked truck in Barangay Inagdangan Norte, Zarraga town at around 8:50 p.m. on Oct. 1.
The impact was so strong that the helmet of victim Jan Rey Nobles broke, police said.
Nobles was a 33-year-old resident of Barangay Guinacas, Pototan.
According to Police Corporal Alfred Mones, investigator of the Zarraga municipal police station, Nobles “dived” under the truck parked on the roadside.
Citing the statements of eyewitnesses, Mones said Nobles appeared to be racing against three other motorcycles.
Truck driver Dennis Amoroso, 37, of Barangay Cogon, Panit-an, Capiz said the accident stunned him. He said he parked by the roadside because he bought water from a nearby store.
Nobles was rushed by the Zarraga municipal government’s rescue unit to the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan where doctors declared him “dead on arrival”.
The police brought Amoroso to the Zarraga police station./PN
