ILOILO – An elderly woman was hit by a motorcycle in Sitio Buri, Brgy. Dawis, New Lucena town around 6:40 a.m. yesterday.
Julia Pacaco, 81, and a resident of the said barangay, was rushed to the Pototan Provincial Hospital but was declared “dead on arrival” by the attending physician.
The motorcycle driver, identified as Albert Acse, 39, and a resident of Mantulang, Passi City, had bruises and wounds.
According to Police Lt. Jerson Baldevia, chief of the New Lucena Municipal Police Station (MPS), Acse was from Passi City and on his way to Iloilo City when he accidentally hit the victim who suddenly crossed the street.
The motorcycle driver was brought to the New Lucena MPS for further investigation.
Baldevia added that the families of both the victim and the driver agreed to settle the incident and that the victim’s family will not file a case against Acse./PN
