Motorcycle-riding man shot to death

BACOLOD City – A man was fatally shot while he was driving a motorcycle on the national road in Sitio San Antonio, Barangay Alimango, Escalante City, Negros Occidental, police said.

The 41-year-old resident Vicente Poliros was rushed to the Vicente Gustilo District Hospital in Escalante City for treatment.

He was later transferred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod where he expired, added the police.

Poliros was on board his Kawasaki Rouser around 4:20 p.m. on Friday when two men riding in tandem fired at him eight times, hitting him on the different parts of the body, a police report showed.

The motorcycle-riding suspects fled after the shooting.

Recovered from the crime scene were eight empty shells and a fired bullet of an unknown gun, police said.

Investigators from the Escalante City police station have yet to determine the motive in the shooting. Initial investigation showed that it was drug-related.

Police were still locating and identifying the suspects.

Toboso ‘pusher’ falls

He allegedly sold shabu to an undercover police officer in Sitio Quinalumsan, Barangay Poblacion, Toboso, Negros Occidental.

Officers from the municipal police station led by Chief Inspector Joery Puerto arrested the 50-year-old resident Roger Alquisar in a drug buy-bust operation around 6:20 p.m. on Friday.

Recovered from Alquisar’s possession were 15 sachets of suspected shabu including the buy-bust item valued at around P8,500 and P500 marked money, police said.

The police coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency to stage the sting operation.

Alquisar was detained at the Toboso police station lockup facility. He was facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
