Motorcycle – SUV collision leaves couple dead

ILOILO – A couple died while being rushed to the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district.

Their motorcycle was hit by a sport utility vehicle (Toyota Fortuner) at the Circumferential Road 1 in Barangay Pandac, Pavia, Iloilo past 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The casualties were Gerald Jade Fuentebella, 29, of Barangay Tacas, Jaro district and Leslie Grace Aldamar, 31, of Zone 8, Barangay Cagbang, Oton, Iloilo.

The driver of the Toyota Fortuner was Marffy Reign Lagamo, 19, of Barangay Pandac, Pavia.

According to Police Corporal Robert John Tang, traffic investigator of the Pavia police station, Lagamo was proceeding to Barangay Hibao-an, Mandurriao district. She tried to overtake a vehicle and in the process went out of her lane. Running on the opposite lane was the motorcycle of Fuentebella and Aldamar.

“Wala sia nakakita nga may nagapadulong nga motorcycle,” said Tang.

The motorcycle was from Barangay Hibao-an, Mandurriao district and was bound for Barangay Ungka II, Pavia.

Lagamo was taken to the Pavia police station. She faces a charge for reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide and damage to proper./PN
