BACOLOD City – A motorcycle driver was killed after colliding with a Mitsubishi Canter around 3:35 p.m. on Friday in Barangay Lipayo, Dauin, Negros Oriental.
Police identified the victim as Efril Tuble Ybañez, 23, resident of Dauin town.
Ybañez had crashed into a Mitsubishi Canter driven by Daves Ybañez Romanillos. A resident of Barangay Bagacay, Dumaguete City, Romanillos was driving home accompanied by his helper William Duran Abueva, 25.
The initial investigation concluded that the vehicles were travelling in opposite directions. Abueva said that upon approaching Barangay Lipayo, the victim swerved his motorcycle into their lane and towards their direction.
Romanillos still managed to blow his horn before Ybañez lost control of his vehicle to collide with the Mitsubishi Canter.
The victim, who sustained head trauma and injuries from hitting the concrete, was immediately brought to Holy Child Hospital in Dumaguete City, but was reported dead around 4:05 p.m. by Dr. Roan Longakit./PN
