2 drivers killed in La Carlota mishap
BACOLOD City – Two motorcycles crashed against each other on the national highway in Barangay Ayungon, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
The accident happened around 7:55 p.m. on Friday, killing drivers Rey Tungcua, 21, of Barangay Balabag, La Carlota City, and Porferio Rublico, 36, of Barangay Ayungon, police said.
Tungcua and Rublico sustained head and body injuries and were rushed to the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital in La Carlota City where attending physician Dr. Celebert Cartel pronounced them “dead on arrival.”
Rublico’s passenger, the 25-year-old Novisio Jimenez, was also injured and was brought to the same hospital.
Jimenez was later transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City where he was currently under treatment.
According to police investigators, Rublico and Tungcua, who were driving Rusi motorcycles, bumped into each other after the latter overtook a cargo truck parked along the road./PN
