ILOILO City – A motorcycle rider died after his vehicle collided with a 10-wheeler truck around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, December 24, along radial road in Barangay Lanit, Jaro district.
The 27-year-old Vicmar Villanueva, a resident of Arevalo district here, sustained severe head injuries. He was declared dead on arrival at Western Visayas Medical Center, police said.
In an interview, truck driver Ronald Lara, 45, of Passi City, Iloilo, recounted that he was en route to Iloilo City from San Enrique town to deliver sand to Guimaras. Lara said the victim was speeding on his motorcycle and appeared to lose control, swerving erratically at an intersection.
Jaro police said the motorcycle crashed into the left side of the truck, and the victim was dragged approximately 30 meters away.
Lara was taken into custody by the Jaro police station while authorities continued their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident./PN
