MANILA – Bacolod Master Sardines faltered in the hands of Pasay Voyagers, 61-50, in the 2019-2020 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup at the Bataan People’s Center.
The defeat was a costly one for the Master Sardines. It dampened its playoffs hopes by dropping to 11th spot in the South Division with 9-17 slate.
Another defeat will formally end its playoffs chase.
The Master Sardines were still in the game and were on top by two points at the half on Wednesday night but the Voyagers created distance in the third period with a 19-12 blast.
Pasay continued its run in the fourth period. It built its largest lead at 61-46 following a three-point conversion by Ilonggo guard Jaypee Belencion.
Belencion finished the match with 15 points. Ron Lastimosa added 13 markers while Elmar Moradas and Jason Opiso contributed 11 points each for the Voyagers (14-12).
“Siyempre laking bagay ang panalo namin. Laking adjustments namin sa ensayo kasi kailangan namin dumepensa ng maayos,” said Belencion.
For Bacolod, Benedict Adamos finished with nine points and eight rebounds. Nico Paolo Javelona added eight markers while Simon Camacho and Jess Mar Villahermosa had seven markers each./PN
