BACOLOD City – A six-year action plan for 2017 to 2021 that will serve as growth road map for local enterprises is being crafted by the Provincial Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Council of Negros Occidental.
A planning-workshop was held Thursday and Friday at Business Inn hotel here led by Provincial MSMED Council chairperson Mary Ann Colmenares.
Colmenares said the previous action plan is being assessed and revised, and the resulting new plan will be included in the national roadmap to be finalized during the National SME Summit in Davao City in November.
The consultation underscored the sectorās outputs and challenges, including the need for a business enabling environment and more support from the government, and programs and their specific action plan to address the goals and targets.
āThe direction set by this action plan should include the provision of financing services to all MSMEs in the province by 2021. Meaning, programs of financial institutions must be responsive to the needs of our enterprises,ā Colmenares said.
The participants also discussed other components of outcome portfolios such as productivity and efficiency for MSMEs, and access to market and finance, Colmenares said.
The activity was participated in by council members along with representatives of the Department of Trade and Industry and BangkoSentralngPilipinas. (PNA)
