Multibillion-peso Bacolod-NegOCc economic highway opens on Aug. 30

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod-Negros Occidental Economic Highway (Banoceh), a multibillion-peso infrastructure project linking Bacolod City with the 3rd District of Negros Occidental, is set to open to the public on August 30, according to this city’s Cong. Greg Gasataya.

During his State of the District Address (SODA) at the University of St. La Salle, Gasataya announced the completion of the highway.

The project, which commenced in 2017 under the oversight of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), spans from Barangay Sum-ag in the southern part of Bacolod City to Victorias City in the north.

It was initiated when Bacolod City’s Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, then a congressman, advocated for its development to boost connectivity to the Bacolod-Silay Airport and surrounding regions.

With a budget allocation exceeding P7 billion, the economic highway is anticipated to catalyze new growth areas for Bacolod City.

Gasataya highlighted the strategic importance of the Banoceh, attributing the project’s progression to collaborative efforts during his and Benitez’s terms in office./PN
