BACOLOD City – Three teenagers were killed while two others were injured after a multicab vehicle crashed against a batchoy house in Caliban Proper, Murcia in Negros Occidental.

The 17-year-old Mark Lorence Guansing; 18-year-old Shelmer Javier; and 16-year-old Justine Maderada succumbed to fatal injuries they sustained after the Sunday night accident, a police report showed.

Meanwhile, John Ryan Cruz, 17, and Carlo James Lopez, 23, were recuperating at a hospital.

Murcia police traffic investigator, Police Staff Sergeant Jetson Cuizon, said 38-year-old multicab driver Emilio Salvador of Barangay Santa Rosa, Manapla Negros Occidental lost control of his vehicle and rammed the batchoy house.

Cuizon said Salvador was mauled by the victims’ families after the incident and was only stopped when police arrived to arrest the driver.

When questioned by authorities, Salvador admitted he was drunk at the time of the incident. Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, physical injuries, and damage to property are now being prepared against the driver.

Salvador was detained in the lockup cell of the Murcia municipal police station./PN
