ILOILO – The Municipality Pavia dominated the 2023 edition of the annual 2nd Congressional District Sports Association (CDSA II) Meet.
It raked in 120 gold medals, 81 silver medals and 44 bronze medals to emerge as overall champion (elementary and secondary levels).
The CDSA II this year was hosted by the Municipality of Zarraga.
The yearly CSDA aims to discover school-based young athletes with big sporting potentials.
“Worth it gid ang tanan nga effort sang aton mga players kag coaches tungod nangin madinalag-on kita,” said Pavia Sangguniang Bayan member JP Peñol, the chairman of the SB committee on education.
Trailing Pavia at second place was the town of Santa Barbara which harvested 89 gold medals.
Leganes was the third placer with 48. San Miguel town had 37; Leon, 16; Zarraga, 14; Alimodian, nine; and New Lucena, seven.
“Salamat gid sa aton local government, Department of Education – District of Pavia personnel, kag sa mga ginikanan nga wala untat ang suporta sa aton mga atleta,” said Peñol.
The following were the winners (gold) for secondary-level sports in boys: Basketball (3X3), Arnis (Pinweight, Lightweight, Featherweight), Billiards (9 Balls), Chess (Blitz), Gymnastics (Floor Exercise, Vault, Individual, Mixed Pair, Trio), Table Tennis (Singles, Doubles, Mix Doubles), Taekwondo (Poomsae Group A, Poomsae Team, Kyorugi Bantamweight, Kyorugi Featherweight, Kyorugi Lightweight, Kyorugi Open Weight), Athletics (400m Run, 800m Run, 4x400m Relay), and Archery.
For secondary-level sports in girls: Basketball (3X3), Arnis (Feather Weight), Chess (Standard Team, Blitz Individual), Gymnastics (Floor Exercise, Balance Beam, Single Bar), Swimming (400m Freestyle, 200m Medley, 800m Backstroke, 400m Medley, 50m Breast Stoke, 200m Freestyle, 200m Breast Stroke, 100m Breast Stroke), Table Tennis (Singles, Doubles), Taekwondo (Poomsae Group B, Poomsae Mix Team, Kyorugi Bantamweight, Kyorugi Open Weight, Kyorugi Flyweight)
