BACOLOD City – The municipal hall of Murcia in Negros Occidental is on a five-day lockdown starting yesterday after a personnel assigned at the Mayor’s Office tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“The purpose is to disinfect and to maximize sanitation as preventive measures for all employees and the municipal hall,” Mayor Gerry Rojas said.

The employee infected with the viral illness is a resident of this city.

Rojas said those who came in contact with the patient yielded negative test results for the virus.

Meanwhile, Murcia’s essential government establishments such as the Municipal Health Office, Disaster Risk Management Office and municipal police station will continue operating.
The town has 29 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Aug. 16, but Rojas said only 14 of those were active./PN
