BACOLOD City – A teenager from Bacolod City has accused the vice mayor of Murcia, Negros Occidental, of slapping him following a scuffle that occurred last week.
The 15-year-old complainant, a resident of Barangay Vista Alegre, reported to the local media yesterday morning that he and his group had been regularly bullied by the vice mayor’s nephew, who is also 15.
According to the complainant, the vice mayor’s nephew had challenged them to a fistfight last week.
The altercation took place outside a local golf club on Nov. 2. During the fight, the vice mayor’s nephew reportedly fell after being punched. Subsequently, barangay authorities intervened and summoned both parties for a settlement.
However, the complainant alleged that during the settlement, Vice Mayor Johnny Reosura demanded he hand over the brass knuckles that were supposedly used against his nephew.
The teenager claimed he was slapped by the vice mayor for denying the use of any weapons during the fight and was also threatened with handcuffs.
Vice Mayor Reosura, in a phone interview, responded to the allegations, stating that the matter had been resolved at the barangay level. However, he confirmed that the complainant’s mother is considering filing a lawsuit.
While Reosura denied slapping the teenager, he did admit to briefly holding the victim’s mouth, accusing them of lying.
“We are here to settle this; hambal kamo sa matu-od kay may instruction na ko na sa ila nga indi kamo pwede mag ginamo di, ti siling ko ang purpose sang sini nga lugar kay para indi kamo pag prisohon kag mag mayuhay kamo,” Reosura said.
The vice mayor also mentioned that his nephew had undergone a medical examination to assess any potential serious head injuries. (Source: Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
