Murder charge vs man who shot stepdaughter

ILOILO City – The man who shot to death his 16-year-old stepdaughter in Maasin, Iloilo has been charged with murder.

A case of murder in relation to the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act was filed against Jerold Guillermo on Saturday at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.

Guillermo, 38, was accused of shooting to death Allejah Faye Aglibot after a fight over the teenager’s cellphone text messages in their house in Barangay Buntalan, Maasin at 6 p.m. last Thursday.

Aglibot, a Grade 11 student, was hit on the head and chest. She was pronounced dead at the Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital in Cabatuan town.

Police Regional Office 6 medicolegal officer Dr. Owen Lebaquin autopsied the body.

“She was probably shot on her head while she was kneeling,” Lebaquin said, citing the downward trajectory of the bullet. “The gunshot wound on her chest was fatal. [The bullet] hit her internal organs.”

Guillermo was detained at the Maasin police station.

He confessed that he got irked when Aglibot slapped him after he destroyed the victim’s cellphone, said Inspector Oswald Gatuslao, Maasin police chief./PN
