BACOLOD City – Police recovered firearms and ammunition from a man charged with murder in Purok Batohon, Barangay Amayco, Murcia, Negros Occidental.
He was identified as the 78-year-old resident Isidro Salazar, police said.
Salazar was arrested around 4:20 p.m. on Thursday on the strength of an arrest warrant that Judge Phoebe Gargantiel-Balbin of the Regional Trial Court Branch 45 issued on June 4.
Recovered from Salazar’s possession were a .357 firearm loaded with six bullets, a boga rifle and a .22 convertible rifle, police said.
Salazar was detained at the Murcia police station lockup facility.
Aside from the murder charge, he was also facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The court did not recommend a bail bond for Salazar’s temporary liberty./PN
