STI-West Negros University Mustangs kept their title hopes alive in the NOPSSCEA Season 38 men’s basketball after forcing a do-or-die Game 3 slated Sunday afternoon at the STI-WNU gym.
The Mustangs denied Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias Titans their second consecutive title with a nail-biting 70-68 victory in Game 2 on Friday night at the former’s home court.
Charry Cadase, Renz Solomon and Aldave Canoy came up with solid performances for the Mustangs as they keep their hopes to unseat the Titans.
The Titans drew first blood in the series on Wednesday evening with a 73-65 win behind the contributions of the duo of MVP candidate Jeffrey Manday and Junior Essakadoualla.
“Despite failing to close out the STI-WNU in Game 2, we are still confident of our chances that we can become champions again,” said Titans head coach Elvis Atinado. “We expect Game 3 to be exciting.”
Whoever wins between the Mustangs and the Titans will represent the NOPSSCEA in the collegiate basketball of the Palarong Panlalawigan, which is slated to start Monday./PN
