AS IN A previous column this one is also prompted by recent events, manifestations and public tantrums of “never was and not former” Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.
Of course, we all know that she was booted out by the Supreme Court via the weapon of choice of Solicitor General Jose Calida, the quo warranto petition.
The Supreme Court dismissed Tuesday last week, June 19, the motion for reconsideration that Maria Lourdes Sereno filed against her removal as chief justice.
The expected logical result is that it finally puts an end to all those hallucinations that the Supreme Court will reverse its decision.
Well, apparently it opened the floodgates for more hallucinations to come rushing out i.e. Hours after the Supreme Court rejected with finality her motion for reconsideration on its decision to oust her as chief justice, Maria Lourdes Sereno said she was ready to lead a “people’s movement” that would hold the government accountable.
That we have yet to know what that “people’s movement” is and who are the members if it ever existed is something else but moi is assuming that the so-called running priest Fr. Robert Reyes will be the lead runner, likewise for the usual suspects i.e. Jim Paredes and Cynthia Patag to name them all.
Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, “lawyer and constitution expert” extraordinaire, seems interested in Maria Lourdes Sereno to take on as his new “love team” in a yet to be produced made-for-television advert countering that Sharon-and-Gabby love team reunion advert for McDonalds.
If that indeed happens then be prepared to accept the reality that Kiko will dump Jover Laurio in favor of Maria Lourdes Sereno or “Meilou” as she prefers to be called.
“Kiko and Meilou” – now that has the makings of a “Guy and Pip” or “Vi and Bot” love team tandem on screen and everywhere else.
Just imagine the box office blockbusters this new “love team” will create. Why, it will resurrect “Mother Lily”, Sampaguita Pictures and LVN Studios and I’m sure that the millennials that read this have no idea what I’m talking about.
But moi is getting ahead here. For all we know Kiko will stay true with Jover so that’s that. Meanwhile, let’s take a look at a twit from Twitter of course, supposedly coming from “Meilou.”
Ma. Lourdes Sereno @ChefJusticePH: My Filipino people please help me decide. I cannot do this alone. I need you to enlighten me! Do you want me to run as a senator in 2019 and then President in 2022?
To borrow a line from that nincompoop Noynoy Aquino who incidentally was responsible for Le Affair Meilou … “Eh di, wow!”
Wow indeed. Since when have the natives of these islands been her people? And if that twit is indeed from Meilou, really cheeky to say the least.
Moi will just park this:
Excerpts from the March 1 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer:
Psychologist says CJ displayed symptoms of mental disturbance
Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno has displayed five of nine symptoms of “mental disturbance,” according to a psychologist who assessed her fitness based on allegations aired throughout a 15-week hearing by the House justice committee on a complaint for her impeachment.
During the 15th and last clarificatory hearing on Tuesday evening, expert witness Geraldine Tria said she would not have recommended Sereno’s appointment as Chief Justice of the Philippines based on the committee’s findings.
Tria said Sereno’s intelligence quotient (IQ) of 109 was “average” and such an applicant should not have been considered because the position required “more responsibility, decision-making.”
“If a person is vying for a high position … and yet the mental ability is just mediocre, why? There are other applicants who have a higher score,” she said.
Tria listed the first four symptoms of mental disturbance displayed by Sereno — grandiosity, preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success and power, sense of entitlement, and tendency to be “interpersonally exploitative,” or taking advantage of others for her own ends.
The fifth and “very crucial” symptom, according to the psychologist, was Sereno’s “lack of empathy and sensitiveness to the need of the other members of the community,”
A lot of natives who watched that interview over the British Broadcasting Service or BBC; Stephen Sackur’s HARDtalk commented that “it showed the world Maria Lourdes Sereno or Meilou for what she really is and that is all of the above”.
There was one comment from an Englishman and it goes something like this; “if that’s your Chief Justice you should be happy she was booted out”.
After all that’s been said and done, Meilou should just move on and if running for a political position or running with Fr. Robert Reyes is the next road for her then by all means after all “democracy is not dead.” (brotherlouie16@gmail.com/PN)
