NADINE Lustre is open to the idea of playing the role of Darna in Star Cinema’s upcoming movie adaptation, saying it is a “good opportunity.”
The actress was asked once again about the possibility of portraying Darna on the big screen as she inked a contract with ABS-CBN on Thursday.
“Yeah, I’m open,” she said. “Kasi it’s nice, it’s a good opportunity, it’s a good project, so who’s not open for it?”
She went on: “I mean, if it’s meant for me, sa akin po ibibigay. But like what I’ve said before, I know that the project is going to be given to someone who can give justice to the role. It does not have to be me, as long as mabigyan ng justice. I know naman that everyone is going to pick the right one.”
Lustre sees nothing wrong if she is the third choice for the role. Both Angel Locsin and Liza Soberano have backed out of the “Darna” movie because of injuries.
“I don’t think it’s bad to be a third choice. I mean, you know, puwede rin namang it’s not the right time or it’s not the right project for them, so I don’t think it matters,” she said.
Acclaimed director Erik Matti, who was originally tasked to helm the “Darna” film, previously said Lustre is his personal pick for the lead role.
“After her (Soberano), I only see Nadine Lustre so far as someone who can be Darna. Very sultry. She has a lot of female sensuality and at the same time still looks tough and very Filipina,” he said. (ABS-CBN News)
