IT’S not often that perceived “rival” love teams – such as KathNiel and JaDine – are seen interacting with each other, so it was a welcome development for fans when Daniel Padilla shared appreciative words for his contemporaries, including Nadine Lustre and James Reid.
Padilla, 23, gave his insights on JaDine, JoshLia (Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto), and LizQuen (Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil) during a recent episode of “Gandang Gabi Vice,” during a segment that tasks guests to ask questions to personalities shown through a series of photos.
The star of “The Hows of Us” opted to give comments on each of them. He described Reid as the “ultimate artista,” citing the Viva artist’s good looks, and talent in singing and dancing.
As for Lustre, he said: “Gusto kong sabihin kay Nadine na ang rock and roll niya rin. Ano siya, e – fearless na babae, at alam niya kung ano ang gusto niya. It’s a good thing. Walang masama roon.”
Lustre and Reid, now a real-life couple, rose to popularity in 2014 with their breakout film “Diary ng Panget.” Whereas the tandem, at the time, appeared to cater to younger fans, they have since shifted to a more mature image that arguably overtook the pace of their fellow love teams.
Lustre, for instance, was voted FHM’s Sexiest Woman in 2017, and has since become more comfortable sharing skin-baring photos on social media. That same year, she courted intrigue with her candid response to rumors that she and Reid were now living under the same roof – “If that was true, so what? Come on, guys, it’s 2017!”
She also made headlines in May 2018 when she addressed fans whose support were conditional, telling them, “Here’s the door; we don’t need your bs here.”
Asked for her reaction to Padilla’s statement during her recent launch as a Skechers endorser, Lustre said, “I’m really happy that other artists [like] Daniel recognized it as well. From the very beginning, that’s what I’m really pushing as an artist naman talaga.”
“I want to be myself lang, I want to be true to myself. Ako ‘yung no-BS kind of girl, so whatever is in my mind, I speak about it. Sinasabi ko talaga. If I know mayroong something wrong, I’m really going to say something about it,” she was quoted as saying by Philstar.com.
Lustre, who is now juggling her music career and two upcoming movies, answered in the affirmative when asked if she is open to working with other love teams, including Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo.
“Of course, it’s a big collaboration definitely. I know everyone wants to work with each other, so it’s going to be a good project when it happens,” she said. (ABS-CBN News)
