NADINE Lustre is sending her sympathies to Liza Soberano after the actress backed out from the upcoming film adaptation of “Darna” due to an injury she sustained.
“We talked about it before, actually nung Christmas Special. She showed to me nga what happened to her finger. It’s her decision. Of course, everyone respects it,” she told ABS-CBN News.
“It would have been nice to see her [as Darna] kasi she was working on it na. Sayang,” she added.
Nonetheless, Lustre is optimistic that there is a bigger project in store for Soberano after what happened.
“It just means that it’s really not for her and there’s something else bigger that’s meant for her,” she said.
After Soberano’s announcement that she will no longer star in the “Darna” movie, netizens have been busy throwing names around as possible replacement for the Kapamilya actress.
And Lustre has consistently been among the top celebrities that they envision donning the iconic costume.
“I super appreciate that. For them to see me as a person who is strong and very empowered – Darna is a strong woman and nakikita nila sa akin yun, it’s good,” she siad.
She, however, does not want to get ahead of anything.
“I want to thank everyone for the support of course but Darna kasi, I am sure, it will be given to someone who is deserving for the role and someone who can really give justice,” she said.
When asked if she ever dreamed of portraying a superhero, she said: “Not a superhero but I would want to do an action film.”
“Something like [movies ni Angelina Jolie]. Basta may mga fight scenes. Something that’s gonna raise my adrenaline up. I am doing ‘Indak’ now but it’s dancing kasi so it’s different,” she said.
Although she is not rushing anything, Lustre revealed that she has already requested such a project from her manager, Vic del Rosario.
“I really want to do it matagal na. It will come. I am not rushing or anything but it will come,” she said. (ABS-CBN News)
