NAIA not damaged by strong Quake, says airport authorities

MANILA – The Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s runways and taxiways were not damaged by the strong quake that struck Luzon on Monday afternoon, airport authorities said.

The airport’s runways are safe for landing and take-off, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said in a statement.

Terminal facilities are also functioning with no reports of downtime, MIAA added.

“Inspection of possible effects of the earthquake to the airport structures is ongoing with no findings initially reported,” it said.

MIAA general manager Ed Monreal said it was business as usual at the NAIA.

Monreal earlier said that some flights may be delayed after the quake as he ordered an inspection of airport facilities. (ABS-CBN News)
