Two police officials from Region 6 were issued dismissal orders by the National Police Commission (Napolcom) central office.

Napolcom 6 regional director Joseph Celis confirmed the reports in an interview with a local radio station. The officers Police Major Rio Maymay and Colonel Ipil Dueñas were dismissed from their post in Camp Crame.

Celis explained that the two had been allegedly involved in an illegal drug case in 2016.

“This pertained to drug involvement nila way back 2016 nga gin-filan sila kag gin-imbestigaran,” Celis said. “It took time man nga ma-resolved kay ti damo ang kaso sa national level.”

Dueñas had served as intelligence chief and deputy director for the Iloilo City Police Office. Maymay had served as head of Police Station 1. Celis clarified that the two officers could make their appeal to Napolcom en banc.
