Nat’l ID forpoor Antiqueños mulled

SAN JOSE, Antique – Household heads belonging to low-income families in Antique are the priority for   registration in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys, or national identification card).

The PhilSys ID will serve as the foundational ID of a person while the functional IDs issued by government agencies such as driver’s license, Philippine Health Insurance Corp., Social Security System, Pag-IBIG (Home Development Mutual Fund), and Government Service Insurance System, among other IDs, will remain valid.

Antique Provincial Statistics Officer Jesus Escote Jr. said the endeavor hopes to provide valid proof of identification to an initial of 111,125 poor household heads. They were identified from Department of Social Welfare and Development’s list of low-income families.

Escote enjoined the cooperation of all the respondents to the enumeration process which started on Oct. 12 and would end on Dec. 30 this year. (PIA-Antique/PN)
