ILOILO City – Feisty Atty. Plaridel Nava is heading back to the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP).
He is the 12th spot winner for city councilor.
Nava said he would reprise his role as “fiscalizer” and people’s defender.
“In short, I will be your bantay sang banwa. I will be more vigilant in the fight against corruption, illegal drugs and abuses in government,” he added.
These roles are non-negotiable and there will be no compromises, said Nava.
But he also vowed “critical collaboration” with colleagues and the Treñas administration “if such will benefit the people and will promote general welfare.”
“As long as the programs and projects are not tainted with irregularities, I will give my full and unequivocal support. We will call the relationship ‘critical collaboration’,” according to Nava.
He added: “There will be no bickering and exchanges of unpleasant issues. We will only focus on good governance and genuine public service.”
The next three years, according to Nava, is a short a time and therefore should be maximized to improve the lives of the poor, provide accessible health services, and afford free public tertiary education.
Nava thanked supporters.
“I am overjoyed. To repay your kindness, your unwavering trust and your precious mandate, I hereby re-affirm and reiterate my sworn commitment to continue working for the betterment of our city. Let us move forward. I am willing to do my part without mental reservation,” he added.
On the other hand, 10 of the 12 city councilors-elect belong to Team Uswag which is headed by Treñas.
They were lawyer Sedfrey Cabaluna, Miguel Trenas, Alan Zaldivar, Frances Parcon, Urminico Baronda, Rudolph Ganzon, Rex Sarabia, Johnny Young, Rommel Duron, and Ely Estante.
Completing the set of city councilors is re-electionist Candice Magdalene Tupas who, though she ran under other political party, still supported Treñas./PN
