MIKAL Bridges delivered a season-best performance as New York Knicks scored a 117-114 escape over San Antonio Spurs in 2024-25 NBA Season on Christmas Day (Thursday morning in the Philippines) at the Madison Square Garden in New York.
Bridges, which was traded from Brooklyn Nets during the offseason, tallied 41 points, including six three-point conversions, to go with four assists, two steals, two blocks, and a rebound as the Knicks improved to a 20-10 win-loss slate.
Karl-Anthony Towns added 21 points and nine rebounds, Jalen Brunson tallied 20 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds, and Josh Hart ended with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists for the Knicks.
With the score tied at 109-all, the Knicks broke the deadlock with a three-pointer from Miles McBride followed by back-to-back conversions from Bridges and a free throw from Hart for a 117-111 lead.
The Spurs managed to cut the deficit to 114-117 on a three-pointer from Chris Paul but they were unable to secure the rebound following multiple Knicks missed attempts in the endgame.
Victor Wembanyama finished with a double-double of 42 points and 18 rebounds, Jeremy Sochan added 21 markers, while Paul and Devin Vassell had 13 and 11, respectively, as the Spurs fell to 15-15.
Meanwhile, Minnesota Timberwolves (15-14) overcame Dallas Mavericks’ (19-11) late surge to score a 105-99 victory at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Anthony Edwards spearheaded the Timberwolves’ offense with 26 points, including four three-pointers, while Julius Randle added 23 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists.
Rudy Gobert ended with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Donte DiVincenzo and Mike Conley chipped in 11 and 10 markers, respectively, for the Timberwolves.
Kyrie Irving led the Mavericks with 39 points, Luke Doncic added 14 markers before exiting with a calf injury, while Klay Thompson and Quentin Grimes ended with 12 and 10 points, respectively./PN
