CALIFORNIA – Stephen Curry came up with clutch conversions and the Golden State Warriors prevailed over Los Angeles Clippers, 115-113, in the 2021-2022 NBA Season on Thursday (Friday in the Philippines) at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California.
Down 107-105 with over two minutes left following a triple by Clippers’ Marcus Morris Sr., Curry connected consecutive triples to swing the lead to the Warriors at 111-109.
Warriors increased the lead to 113-109 on a two-pointer by Draymond Green but the Clippers made its last push on a Paul George triple before Curry sealed the win for GSW with two free throws.
Curry finished the match with 45 points, including eight three-point conversions, to go with 10 rebounds as the Golden State stayed perfect in the standings at 2-0.
For the Warriors, Andrew Wiggins added 17 markers, including three outside baskets, while Damion Lee and Green contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Golden State were on top 44-27 after the opening quarter with Curry heating up for 25 points but the Los Angeles slowly clawed its way back in the second quarter to snatch a 67-66 lead at the half.
It was a tight exchange for both teams in the third quarter with the Clippers clinging to a 93-90 advantage before creating separation from the Warriors at 98-90 early in the fourth.
The Warriors, however, unloaded nine straight points, capped by a Lee triple to regain the lead at 99-98, before the two teams made it a tight exchange with the Clippers slightly up 109-108.
For the Clippers (0-1), George tallied 29 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, while Eric Bledsoe and Ivica Zubac contributed 22 and 14 markers, respectively.
In other results, Miami Heat (1-0) manhandled defending champions Milwaukee Bucks (1-1), 137-95, while Atlanta Hawks (1-0) walloped Dallas Mavericks (0-1), 113-87.
