
JALEN Brunson stepped up offensively in the endgame as New York Knicks scored a tight 99-95 victory over Brooklyn Nets in the 2024-25 NBA Regular Season on Tuesday night (Wednesday in the Philippines) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Down 89-90 with over two minutes left, Brunson unloaded six straight points followed by a dunk from OG Anunoby as the Knicks surged to a 97-92 advantage.
The Nets responded with a triple from DāAngelo Russell and had a chance to take the win, but Cameron Johnson missed his triple try. Brunson then sealed the Knicks’ win with two free throws with seven seconds left.
Brunson finished the game with 17 points, on a 7-of-18 field goal shooting, to go with four assists and three rebounds as the Knicks moved up to 29-16 in the Eastern Conference standings.
Karl-Anthony Towns top-scored with 25 points and 16 rebounds, Anunoby contributed 20 markers, while Precious Achiuwa and Mykal Bridges ended with 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Knicks.
Russell tallied a double-double of 23 points and 10 assists to lead the Nets (14-30), Johnson and Tyrese Martin added 16 and 13, respectively, while Noah Clowney and DayRon Sharpe ended with 10 apiece.
Meanwhile, Portland Trail Blazers (15-28) overcame a slow start to score a 116-107 victory over Miami Heat (21-21) over at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
Anfernee Simons led the Blazers with 24 points, DeAndre Ayton added a double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds, while Jerami Grant contributed 18 markers.
Duncan Robinson led the Heat with 22 points, rookie Kel’el Ware added a double-double of 20 points and 15 rebounds, while Jimmy Butler contributed 13 markers.
Toronto Raptors (11-32) pulled off another upset, taking down Orlando Magic (23-22), 109-93. RJ Barrett tallied 19 markers to lead the surging Raptors./PN
