
MANILA – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed criminal charges to 11 persons with regards to death of flight attendant Christine Dacera.
Among those charged with obstruction of justice were Mark Rosales, Rommel Galido, John Dela Serna, Gregorio De Guzman, Jezreel Rapinan, Alain Chen, Reymay Englis, and Darwin Macalla, NBI officer-in-charge Director Eric Distor said. Said individuals were with Dacera at the City Garden Grand Hotel in Makati City prior to her death on New Year’s Day.
Neptali Maroto, the legal counsel of the suspects, was also recommended with obstruction of justice case, while Dela Serna, Rapinan, Chen, and Louie De Lima were filed with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide case.
Galido, Dela Serna, and Macalla also face perjury charge for lying in their testimonies, while Rosales was recommended for administering illegal drug charge after the NBI investigation showed both Rosales and Galido allegedly tried to deliver or give away illegal drugs at the party.
Falsification of public documents charge was also recommended against Southern Police District Medico Legal Officer Police Maj. Michael Sarmiento who conducted the autopsy on Dacera.
The 23-year-old Dacera was found unconscious and without a pulse in a bathtub at the room of the hotel around 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 1. Her friends claimed they tried to revive her and brought her to the Makati Medical Center, where she was later declared dead.
In a medico-legal report by Philippine National Police, Dacera died of ruptured aortic aneurysm that was triggered by an increase in blood pressure, ruling out that her death was a crime after initially suspecting rape and homicide against her companions./PN
