MANILA – Former Bacolod City health officer Dr. Ma. Carmela Gensoli has been slapped with complaints by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for alleged discrepancies in reporting results of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) tests from the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital to the city’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
Renoir Baldovino, NBI Bacolod chief, said the charge was for the violation the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act and the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act which “slowed the city’s response to COVID-19.”
Panay News tried to reach Gensoli for comment but to no avail.
According to Baldovino, the complaint was filed against Gensoli based on the request of Melquiades Feliciano, retired military general and now the chief implementer of the Inter-Agency Task Force-Visayas.
Feliciano called for a full investigation of discrepancies between the number of tests done and real data collected on a daily basis from the hospital’s laboratory and the epidemiological surveillance unit of the city health office./PN
