NBI, LGU Malay to put up Boracay satellite office

BORACAY ISLAND – The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Malay, Aklan has authorized Acting mayor Abram Sualog to enter into a memorandum of agreement for the establishment of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) satellite office in this town.

On Feb. 12, SB member Jupiter Aelred Gallenero, committee chairperson on laws, stressed the NBI satellite center will give the constituents and the transacting public the convenience in securing NBI clearances.

“They could save time in travelling to Roxas City or Iloilo para kumuha ng NBI clearances. Natutuwa tayo dahil dito sa Boracay lsland ang kanilang office,” he added.

The only satellite office in the province of Aklan will help decongest the NBI offices of bulk applicants and the long lines of those who want to get NBI clearances for local or abroad employment pre-requisites.

Gallenero said the NBI office in the island is an ideal public service for the populace to save time, effort and money in travelling to NBI offices in nearby provinces.

“Boracay tourism brings investors and businesses resulting to tourism-related employment opportunities for constituents of Malay and its neighboring towns. The abundance of opportunities also brought with it the necessity to issue NBI clearances for employment purposes with employers,” he stressed.

Gallenero said the collaborative efforts of Malay, Aklan officials and NBI for the proposed satellite office support the policy of effective and efficient governance and the improvement of delivery of basic services which are essential to the general welfare of the people.

The local government of Malay, he added, will provide the office space for NBI frontline employees to transact or issue clearances. (Akean Forum/PN)
