NCAA: San Beda stays unbeaten

MANILA – San Beda University Red Lions cruised to its 10th consecutive win in the NCAA Season 95 men’s basketball. It routed Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 98-66, at the San Juan Arena.

Ilonggo Clint Doliguez, Donald Tankoua and Evan Nelle tallied 13 points each while Calvin Oftana and Amiel Cris Soberano added 12 markers apiece.

Holding to a slim 16-14 lead after the first 10 minutes on Tuesday, the Red Lions went on a rampage in the second period with a 38-8 scoring behind Oftana and Tankoua for a 54-23 halftime edge.

The Red Lions continued to pound on the Generals in the second half with Doliguez, Tankoua, Soberano and Oftana spearheading the offense as the lead reached its largest at 89-48.

“Even though we’re No. 1, I’m happy with what I’m seeing with my boys. They are coming in early and taking their shots. Hopefully, we could sustain this but it’s still a long way to go for us,” said Red Lions head coach Boyet Fernandez.

Marwin Taywan tallied 19 points, while JP Maguliano added 17 markers and seven rebounds as the Generals slumped to its eighth straight defeat to slid down to 1-9 win-loss slate.

In the second game, Lyceum of the Philippines withstood a tough challenge from Arellano University Chiefs for a 93-90 escape.

Mike Nzeusseu had 23 points and nine rebounds for the Pirates./PN
