MANILA – Colegio de San Juan de Letran Lady Knights pulled off a stunning 25-22, 25-20, 18-25, 16-25, 17-15 win over the University of Perpetual Help Lady Altas in the NCAA Season 95 Women’s Volleyball at the San Juan Arena.

Chamberlaine Cunada led the way with 19 points, with all but one coming from attacks.

Daisy Melendres supplemented three of her team’s seven blocks to end up with 16 markers.

The Lady Knights levelled their win-loss card to 4-4.

Julienne Castro chimed in a triple-double of 12 points, 12 receptions and 10 digs as Letran played the spoiler’s role to the twice-to-beat hopes of the Lady Altas, which fell to solo fourth with a 6-3 slate.

It was a near collapse for the Lady Knights after wasting a two-set advantage before going toe to toe with the Lady Altas in the fifth set behind crucial hits from Cunada and Melendres.

“Nawala kasi sa kanila noong third and fourth ‘yung enjoyment. ‘Yun ‘yung kailangan kong gamutin sa kanila. Noong fifth set na lamang [Perpetual], sabi ko lang na i-enjoy lang nila ang laro,” Letran head coach Michael Inoferio said.

Jhona Rosal finished with 22 points laced with 13 digs and eight receptions that went for naught, while Bianca Tripoli managed 14 markers for the Lady Altas.

Meanwhile, the remaining matches of the women’s volleyball tournament have been postponed to a later date due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) scare./PN
