ILOILO City – The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is calling for more project proposals for its competitive grants for 2015.
Cultural arts groups, academic institutions, local arts organizations, and non-government organizations involved in culture among others, are encouraged to submit their respective project proposals on or before August 31.
According to NCCA Project Development Officer 1 Subcommission on Cultural Heritage Charles Salazar, NCCA has allocated a total budget of P250 million for the grants. However, they qualify the project proposals based on its underlying theme which captures the aspiration of the arts and culture community as expressed by the vision of the Commission for the 21st century, “Filipino culture as the wellspring of national and global well-being.”
In addition, the project must also aim to become a pillar of sustainable development, advance creativity and diversity of artistic expression, and promote a strong sense of patriotism and pride being a Filipino through culture and arts.
On their part, NCCA will be providing funds for projects for the promotion, development and conservation of Philippine culture and arts.
For 2013 to 2016, NCCA’s major programs includes: Program for Cultural Education, Program for Cultural Diplomacy, Program for Conservation of Cultural Heritage, Program for Culture and Development, and Program for Artistic Excellence and Creativity.
The said major programs serve as anchors in defining NCCA’s thrust and priorities each year.
Salazar said that the Western Visayas region has been a consistent recipient of the grant.
He added that they are basing the approval of the project proposals on the dynamics of the present times.
