Nearly 2K Jordan youngsters vaxxed

A new policy takes effect next month in the provincial government of Guimaras – job hires must have themselves vaccinated against coronavirus disease or their contracts won’t be renewed. Those applying for job hire positions must also be vaccinated.

JORDAN, Guimaras – As of Nov. 26, 1,988 youngsters here from 12 to 17 years old received their first dose of vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

This was 46.16 percent of the 4,307 target youngsters for inoculation, data from the Rural Health Unit (RHU) showed.

Here’s the breakdown of the vaccinated youngsters per barangay:

With the ongoing three-day National Vaccination Days (Nov. 29 to Dec. 1), the number of vaccinated kids here may further rise.

Yesterday, the vaccination venues were Sta. Teresa National High School, Jordan Health Office and Barangay Lawi’s gym.

Today, the venues are Barangay Balcon Maravilla’s gym and the Jordan Health Office.

Tomorrow, vaccination venues are Jordan National High School, Jordan Health Office, Barangay Sinapsapan’s daycare center and Barangay Espinosa’s elementary school.

Youngsters are required to bring ballpens, identification cards and birth certificates.

But the three-day National Vaccination Days are not only for youngers. These are open to the general public – 18 years old and older who are healthcare workers, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities, uniformed personnel, and the indigent, among others.

Jordan has a population of 26,929.

As of Nov. 26, the town had only four active COVID-9 cases left./PN
