ILOILO City – Police seized close to P1 million worth of shabu in two separate operations in Pavia, Iloilo.
The operations also led to the arrest of two suspects.
The first operation took place at 12:30 a.m. yesterday in Barangay Pagsanga-an, where authorities apprehended a 34-year-old suspect known as alias “Biboy” from Barangay San Isidro, Jaro, Iloilo City.
Major Dadje Delima, the chief of Pavia police, said the arrest followed two months of intense surveillance and monitoring.
Biboy sold one gram of shabu, with a street value of P7,000, to an undercover officer, leading to the recovery of 65 grams of shabu valued at approximately P442,000.
A second bust occurred at 11:05 a.m., targeting a 45-year-old former nursing attendant at Western Visayas Medical Center, known as alias “Alog”.
During the operation, police confiscated 72 grams of shabu worth around P489,600 from him, following a controlled buy where the suspect sold P5,000 worth of the drug.
Both operations were part of a targeted push to dismantle local drug networks, according to Police Colonel Bayani Razalan, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office.
He lauded the efforts of the officers involved in the oeprations.
“These operations demonstrate our commitment to eradicating illegal drugs and ensuring the safety of our communities,” said Razalan.
He also encouraged the public to continue supporting the police’s efforts to maintain peace and order.
The suspects were charged with violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
